As with any good event, volunteers are a very 

important part of making the day a success.  


We would like to encourage schools and organizations to register as volunteer teams.  The team with the most volunteers, one school and one organization, will receive a travel trophy to display proudly for one year until the next Justin Pepper 5K; Walk, Run, Ruck! when they will have to 'defend their title'.  


​Volunteers need to register through the volunteer registration system.  This enables us to provide timely information making your volunteer experience enjoyable.  We will also host an online volunteer meeting one week prior to the race for last minute details and to answer any questions or concerns.  This meeting will be held on the Saturday morning prior to race day at 10 AM.  If you are not able to attend live, it will be recorded and distributed to all race volunteers by email. 

We offer free race entries to volunteers who sign up to assist with the following jobs:

Packet Pick Ups 

Race Route Set Up on Race Day 

Late Registration and Packet Pick Up on Race Day

Before Race Finish Line Assistance

After Race Clean Up

School and Community Groups:

The school AND the organization with the most volunteers will receive a travel trophy to hold until next year's event. Volunteers may not register under both a school and an organization, you must choose which group you are representing.   The only exception to this is a volunteer who works both Friday and may represent one group each day.

Any volunteer representing a school or organization must sign in at the volunteer registration table on Friday and Saturday (depending on jobs) to be officially counted for their group.  Volunteers who work on Friday AND Saturday may be counted twice for your group or once for a school and once for an organization.  Volunteers need to be at Crooked Creek Park at the time specified for their job duty.  It is encouraged for volunteers to attend or review the recording of the volunteer meeting as mentioned above.   The meeting will be held on the Saturday prior to race day at 10 AM.  Links will be sent by email.  The meeting will be recorded and distributed for those unable to attend live.  Volunteer certificates will be distributed after your shift.  

All volunteers will receive a volunteer shirt that MUST be worn on race day to ensure participants know who to ask for assistance. If we have extra shirts available, you may trade your volunteer shirt for a race shirt after your volunteer shift at the Volunteer Registration Table.  Volunteers will receive a certificate, if needed,  on both Packet Pick Up days and Saturday after their shift. These will be available at the Volunteer Registration Table.
